As anyone who has been to a Disney theme park can tell you, the Mouse House knows how to throw one hell of a party. That point was reinforced further Wednesday, as its movie studio invaded Kodak Theatre with everyone from Miley Cyrus to Johnny Depp to the cast of “High School Musical” in tow.
Thousands of VIPs packed in to get a sneak peek of every Disney film between now and 2012. MTV News was in attendance and live-blogged such big stories as Depp’s surprise appearance, Oprah’s newest role and Pixar’s “Cars 2″ plans over on the Movies Blog.
But the rest of the day was stolen away by soon-to-be-16-year-old Miley.
Just days after Disney’s announcement that her “Hannah Montana: The Movie” would get an earlier release date, Cyrus and her father were introduced onstage by Walt Disney Pictures Chairman Dick Cook. During a brief interview, Miley spoke about the movie, as well as her November 23 birthday.

‘Harry Potter’ Author J.K. Rowling Wins Copyright-Infringement Lawsuit
Five months after author J.K. Rowling was nearly brought to tears while testifying in front of a New York courtroom, the woman behind “Harry Potter” had reason to smile Monday (September 8) with news that a judge had ruled in her favor in a copyright-infringement lawsuit against RDR Books, publishers of “The Harry Potter Lexicon.”

Franklin debuted the original “Silver and Gold” on his 1993 Kirk Franklin and the Family album. The club she played, a relatively new venue called Le Poisson Rouge, was ideal for her current show, which is very straightforward. Some 600 people were arrayed at tables and up on risers around a circular stage in the middle of the room. The high-end lighting technology seemed to reflect the state of that particular art, and the sound system was that rare thing, a model of both bone-shivering power and absolute clarity. Since Li’s music includes some subtle details that might otherwise go missing, this was a perfect environment.

“I am doing the best I can possibly be. I’m so anxious to get out of here,” the 32-year-old drummer said. “I was in Georgia at the hospital over there and was scared to death to even get on an airplane again, so I had Shanna and my father come out and meet me and we took a bus back to L.A. I’ve just been in surgery after surgery. I have third-degree burns basically from my feet up to my waist and both hands. One of my hands has second-degree burns and one has third-degree burns.”

“Janet was hoping to resume her tour in an effort not to disappoint her fans,” read Saturday’s statement. “However, after arriving in Greensboro, it became evident that she is not fully recovered. A local doctor advised that she not perform tomorrow.”
Jackson’s reps have not disclosed what is ailing the 42-year-old singer, but last week they said she became “suddenly ill” during soundcheck for a show in Montreal on Monday and was hospitalized that night, forcing her to miss the date. Jackson, on her first North American tour in seven years, went on to cancel gigs in Boston and Philadelphia that were scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday. Back in March, she was also hospitalized in Los Angeles briefly while suffering from the flu.
While Jackson’s publicist did not give any more information on her condition on Saturday, it was revealed that the singer is “recuperating” and will return home at her doctor’s suggestion for further treatment. The promoter of her Rock Witchu Tour is reportedly working on rescheduling the missed dates.

Swedish pop phenom and possible Stateside star-to-be Lykke Li played the second date of a U.S. minitour on Thursday night, a sold-out show at a Greenwich Village nightclub. The crowd seemed very NYU, and many of them were singing along to the songs. This was no tremendous surprise: Li’s debut album, the dazzling Youth Novels, was only released in this country last week, but her various European videos have already scored more than 2-million hits on YouTube.

As that afterparty was winding down, another soiree was just getting under way at iconic West Hollywood hotspot Chateau Marmont, where gossip mag In Touch Weekly threw a big-ticket event featuring performances by Leona Lewis and Good Charlotte, and a surprise appearance by everyone’s least favorite afterparty guest, the Los Angeles fire marshal.
Seems everyone wanted to get into the Chateau, which put the event at max capacity, which — of course — meant that the marshal had to be called in to turn partygoers away. So while Lewis was singing, “Piece of Me” director Wayne Isham, “Twilight” star Robert Pattinson and about a hundred other Hollywood types were forced to wait outside. David and Victoria Beckham, however — not appreciating their elite status, apparently — left the party early, and Christina Aguilera followed not long after.

Beau Dozier profile: Barker said he’s anxious to spend more time with his and Moakler’s children, Landon, 5, and Alabama, 2. “Shanna brought them down a couple times, but not on the basis that I normally would [see them],” he said. “Normally I wake up with them at six in the morning and take them to school. I’m just taking this one day at a time and listening to all the doctors’ orders.”
One big change that Barker has made since the accident is changing his diet. He’s broken with his vegetarian regimen in the interest of helping his recovery. “Because I was a vegetarian, for my first three surgeries, it was hard to get any of my grafts to take to my real skin,” he said. “I have such low levels of protein. I need protein from food rather than just protein supplements. I changed my diet. I would do anything I possibly could [to get better]. They said, ‘There’s a possibility you might heal faster if you do eat meat or just change your eating habits.’ So I did. I don’t regret it at all, because I feel so much better!”
The change may already be having a positive effect on his recovery. “I just got out of surgery maybe an hour ago,” he said. “They took pieces from my back and pieces of skin from my thighs and they grafted them onto my feet, my heels and my right forearm and it actually stuck!”

Did drummer Gil Sharone leave Dillinger Escape Plan? That’s the rumor, but confirmation has yet to come from either the band or Sharone himself. On Dillinger’s MySpace page, in a blog post titled “It’s true,” the band simply wrote, ” … everybody loves a rumor.” And that rumor suggests Sharone has rejoined his old band, Stolen Babies, and that DEP have been talking to Raanen Bozzio — son of drummer Terry Bozzio — about taking over behind the kit. Only time will tell if there is any truth to all of this, but we’ll keep you posted. …

As DJ AM continues to recover from second- and third-degree burns he suffered in last month’s plane crash in South Carolina, his fellow DJs are making sure he’s getting the kind of homecoming party he deserves.
Mark Ronson, Steve Aoki, Danny Masterson and Mix Master Mike are just some of AM’s friends confirmed to perform at the Welcome Home DJ AM party, to be held October 14 at Avalon Hollywood. Tickets for the event are $20, and all proceeds will go to the memorial funds established in the names of the four people who were killed in the accident.
In a statement to People.com, event organizers said that AM (born Adam Goldstein) has been “a close friend … for many years,” and that the party is being organized not just as a fundraiser, but because his friends feel they “owe him a debt of gratitude that we can never repay, but we hope this helps just a bit.”

“He insulted all ‘Twilight’ fans,” a Twilighter named Sukiyaki posted on MTV.com. “MTV, I hope you have enough space to house all the hate mails about Russell Brand.”
